Next Up amplifies the voice and leadership of diverse young people to achieve a more just and equitable Oregon.
About This Cause
For more than 20 years, we've been building youth power in Oregon. Our work redesigned our election systems, breaking down systemic barriers and leading Oregon to become one of the easiest states to vote in – with consistently top youth voter turnout. Today, we’re an incubator for the next generation of young leaders, inspiring lifelong civic engagement and shifting power. We create opportunities for young people ages 13-35, centering Black, Indigenous, youth of color and intersectional youth, to build their individual and collective power. Our cohort-based programs -- including an 8-week introductory program called UPTURN as well as the year-round Youth Action Team and Community Action Team -- scaffold young people to explore how to shift power and work towards social justice. Through our programs, events and internships, we have supported young people to take leadership roles in advocacy, public service, elected office and beyond. Our work has strengthened a wave of young people who are leading the charge to dismantle oppressive systems and institutions so that our communities can thrive.
