Mission Statement
The Blosser Center for Dyslexia Resources mission is to help students with dyslexia reach their potential through the power of literacy.
About This Cause
The Blosser Center for Dyslexia Resources was founded in 2000 to continue the educational and advocacy work of Dorothy Blosser Whitehead, M.S. a nationally recognized leader in establishing standards for reading specialists. The Blosser Center provides accredited Orton-Gillingham teacher training and student instruction, with a proven record of success in bringing the power of literacy to everyone. We tutor students reading throughout the school year in Oregon. We also hold a 4-week intensive summer school focused on reading and writing. We are a nationally recognized Orton-Gillingham training center. We train classroom educators and tutors across the country. In 2023, we are focused on training teachers in Title One schools. Your donations can help us achieve this goal. U.S. Department of Education released the Nation's Report Card showing declines in student learning compared to pre-pandemic levels. Reading scores have dropped in 43 states. Your donation will help fund our teacher training and student tutoring scholarships. Give the gift of literacy! **A donation of $2,000 with company match funds full scholarship for a student to complete our 32 week program. ** Large grants of $5,000 with company match funds will be used to train teachers at Title 1 schools in Orton-Gillingham instruction. O-G uses phonics-based, multi-sensory, individualized instruction to teach children to read. It is the gold standard of reading instruction for students with dyslexia and is an effective method of teaching literacy to all students. ** A donation of $1,000 with company match funds a full scholarship for a classroom educator to be trained in the gold standard of dyslexia instruction. **A donation of $500 with company match funds a full scholarship for a student to attend our 4-week intensive summer school in reading instruction.
