Mission Statement
The mission of the John Deere Classic, a non-for-profit corporation, is to conduct a PGA TOUR sanctioned professional golf tournament that will contribute positively to the quality of life in our community. The John Deere Classic also strives to provide growing annual financial contributions to charities in our area, as well as promote volunteerism. Through the golf tournament and various tournament programs, our main goal is to provide a positive economic impact to the community.
About This Cause
Since the tournament inception in 1971, the John Deere Classic has delivered over $157 million to regional charities, most of it through its innovative Birdies for Charity program. Every 501c3 organization in our area is eligible to participate in the tournament’s charitable program. This program has been developed to provide fundraising opportunities for non-for-profit organizations located within the JDC tournament area. By providing a means for charities to help themselves raise much needed funds for special projects and/or programs, we are helping to enhance the overall quality of life within our community. An additional part of the charitable efforts of the John Deere Classic is the bonus match promise. Each year, the tournament promises these participating charities a 5% match based on the total dollars brought in by their organization, always striving to do more than the amount promised. YOUR DONATIONS TO THE BFC BONUS FUND SUPPORTS ALL PARTICIPATING BFC CHARITIES. DONATIONS TO THE BONUS FUND ARE MATCHED BY THE JOHN DEERE FOUNDATION (**UP TO $325,000 TOTAL MATCH PER YEAR) SO THAT YOUR BONUS FUND DONATION HAS TWICE THE IMPACT.
