Mission Statement
Positivity Persists is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity and expanding access to essential resources for underserved communities across New York City. We provide hygiene and wellness supplies, food support, and emergency assistance to individuals facing housing instability, financial hardship, or social neglect, all while centering youth empowerment, public health equity, and community-led action.
About This Cause
Positivity Persists is a grassroots, youth-led nonprofit organization based in New York City, dedicated to restoring dignity, expanding access to essential resources, and uplifting communities through direct service, advocacy, and empowerment. Founded with a deep understanding of the everyday challenges faced by marginalized New Yorkers, Positivity Persists focuses on serving individuals and families experiencing housing instability, hygiene poverty, food insecurity, and systemic neglect. We support underserved populations through programs that emphasize public health equity, community care, and youth-powered leadership. What We Do: We provide high-impact services tailored to urgent and ongoing needs, including: 1. Hygiene Kit Distributions: Supplying shelters, street outreach teams, and underserved communities with kits that include soap, deodorant, period products, toothbrushes, and more, always with dignity in mind. 2. Food Access Initiatives: Coordinating food distributions and holiday drives for low-income families, immigrants, and individuals transitioning out of crisis. 3. Emergency Relief Support: Rapidly mobilizing care packages and essentials in response to individual requests or localized crises (e.g., shelter closures, winter surges). 4. Youth Engagement: Hosting interns and youth fellows through NYC's Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), training the next generation of civic leaders in nonprofit operations, outreach, and impact-driven service. 5. Environmental & Community Cleanups: Through our “Clean and Positively Green” initiative, we organize volunteer cleanups across NYC to promote public health, visibility, and pride in overlooked areas. 6. Advocacy & Awareness: Educating communities about hygiene poverty, period equity, and structural inequality, amplifying the voices of those affected. Who We Serve: Our work centers on individuals and families living in: 1. Transitional housing shelters 2. Temporary or unstable housing 3. Under-resourced neighborhoods 4. Refugee and immigrant communities 5. Low-income school districts 6. Justice-impacted and underserved populations We also partner directly with NYC shelters, schools, local clinics, mutual aid networks, and grassroots organizers to ensure our work is integrated, accessible, and community-informed. Our Vision: We envision a New York City where everyone, regardless of zip code, status, or circumstance, has access to the basic dignity of care. We believe that lasting change starts with small, consistent actions rooted in love, accountability, and equity. And we believe that youth are not just the future; they’re already leading.
