Mission Statement

We believe that everyone deserves a home.

About This Cause

Every day, we provide high-quality, permanent housing to San Franciscans who suffer from serious health issues. With our help, they can get off the streets, rebuild their lives, and strengthen our communities. We serve over 800 residents across 9 properties in San Francisco. We help formerly homeless individuals most in need of support maintain housing and stability. We practice harm reduction, meeting people where they are, helping them achieve their own goals. We aim to help people stay housed and safe. Along with 24/7 property management, DISH offers holistic life-affirming programs to support resident wellness and growth in a stable home community. Our hope for residents is that our housing provides an opportunity for a more meaningful and joyful life along with a permanent exit from homelessness. DISH was founded in September 2006 to provide property management services for what is now part of the City’s Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH). DISH’s guiding principle is to serve adults with complex health and substance use issues in supportive housing, and it is our goal to be a strong partner in the City’s effort to end homelessness. DISH partners with other service providers, including Episcopal Community Services, Compass Family Services, and UCSF Citywide to meet the needs of our residents. DISH’s genuine compassion, care, and dedication to each of our residents has become a proven model to reduce homelessness. We need your help to continue providing the most effective supportive housing in San Francisco. Your support will allow us to expand to serve more people in more properties, and continue to innovate and test the best approaches to help people remain housed. Please help fuel the future of our community. The majority of our properties are privately owned, and master leased by the City and County of San Francisco. Our residents mainly come to DISH properties from the City’s Coordinated Entry System. In addition to managing the properties and working closely with our residents to meet their housing and community needs, DISH staff are on-site 24 hours a day to ensure safety, security, stability, and timely maintenance. Partner agencies provide case management, nursing, and clinical support.
