About This Cause
The mission of Bluff and Ridge Equine Assisted Therapies is to provide children, youth and adults the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. Equine-assisted therapy provides an alternative method to treating physical, emotional and behavioral issues. Many of our students have anxiety and other emotional and behavioral needs and often lack empathy, self-worth, social awareness. Horses are instinctive animals that connect deeply with people and can provide therapy in a unique way by helping to build confidence, improve strength and stability and overall improve the health and wellness of participants. There’s no piece of equipment in physical therapy that can replace a horse’s gait, which mimics the natural three-dimensional movement of the pelvis during walking and helps enhance neuro-motor function and sensory processing, while improving posture, balance, mobility and function. Bluff & Ridge Equine Assisted Therapies, Inc. is a member center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, Int’l (PATH).
