Mission Statement
The mission of the Oregon Medical Education Foundation (OMEF) is to advance medical science through education and to fund critical programs that improve both the practice of medicine and the health of Oregonians.
About This Cause
OMEF was formed by the Oregon Medical Association (OMA) in 1961 and is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization. 1. We look after the mental and physical well-being of our future healthcare leaders by providing urgently-needed financial assistance through the OMEF Scholarship Fund. Eligible medical and physician assistant students may use their award to relieve stress and hardship caused by food insecurity, housing challenges, student loan debt, access to online learning resources, and to fill other needs as they arise. 2. We help build community resiliency through our Community Education Grant program which provides assistance to organizations that demonstrate a commitment to advancing cultural competence in medicine, tackling challenges facing underserved communities and driving innovation in medical science. 3. We strive to be good partners to prospective students facing barriers to entering the profession, especially for those from backgrounds that are under-represented in medicine, and to the wider community through support of public health and wellness education partnerships.
