Mission Statement

Our Mission: UWBA mobilizes the Bay Area to dismantle the root causes of poverty and build equitable pathways to prosperity. Through initiatives and policy change, we provide immediate and long-term support for employment, housing, financial stability, and meeting basic needs. Our Vision: UWBA envisions an equitable Bay Area where everyone has the opportunities and resources to thrive.

About This Cause

United Way Bay Area (UWBA) inspires and connects people to break the cycle of poverty in the Bay Area by supporting both short-term needs and long-term system changes. UWBA brings together nonprofit, business, and government partners to address Bay Area poverty. We partner across sectors, develop solutions, capture the needed data, and use those insights to support public policy and create research-backed community initiatives. We do this by addressing the specific needs of our community through 4 main impact areas: Housing Justice, Employment & Career Opportunities, Financial Stability, and Basic Needs, helping more than 250,000 Bay Area residents each year. Together, we can make an impact. Please join us by making your donation to United Way Bay Area. When you give to United Way, you are joining a movement to help struggling Bay Area residents break the cycle of poverty, making our community a place where we all can thrive. Thank You.
