About This Cause
Programs Futures Explored, Concord Our innovative day program, located in the heart of downtown Concord, provides training in both work-related and life skills to adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Participants may need help in areas of personal or social skills, or in seeking and holding a job, or both. Our Supported Employment program places individuals in jobs in the community based on their skills and job readiness. Referrals for job development, job placement and job coaching may include but are not limited to the Regional Centers, directly from the Department of Rehabilitation or can be paid for privately. ALIVE, Antioch and Concord (Actively Living and Involved in a Variety of Endeavors) ALIVE is a highly innovative program, serving primarily consumers with severe physical and some mental disabilities, such as cerebral palsy. Most consumers are non-ambulatory, in wheelchairs, with moderate to severe physical challenges. Consumers learn to access their community and to explore options available to them. GARDEN, Antioch, Brentwood, and Livermore The GARDEN programs serve individuals with specialized health needs. The program is adjusted to maximize their personal benefit and includes a significant number of sensory opportunities. Community involvement is still a desired outcome, however, due to medical/health needs it is typically more limited. VTE Programs, Sacramento and Davis VTE job placement and vocational training program committed to offering adults with developmental disabilities the optimal opportunity to work in a paid, productive, community integrated, competitive employment. VTE was created in 1981. In 1983, VTE was awarded a grant to start a training program with a food service contractor at the University of California, Davis. This program's success has allowed VTE to expand their services to employers in Sacramento, Placer, and Yolo counties
