Mission Statement

The mission of Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) is to prevent homelessness and hunger in our local community. Our vision is a community where everyone has a home with food on the table. SCS serves as a safety net hub for underserved residents in north Santa Clara County and works to support any individual who comes to our agency seeking services, regardless of their city of residence.

About This Cause

Founded in 1970, Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving residents of Sunnyvale, California, as well as the Alviso community of San Jose. We are one of seven Emergency Assistance Network agencies that together provide a safety net for low- income residents across all of Santa Clara County. We also assist unhoused individuals and families. SCS provides financial aid, food, case management, and other support for the most vulnerable in our local community. SCS services include financial aid for rent, utilities, and other critical needs; weekly food distributions; intensive case management for families and seniors who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; Kids' "Ready to Learn” summer food and back-to-school supplies program; annual Holiday Program; WorkFirst Sunnyvale Workforce Development Program for homeless individuals; and onsite referrals to additional benefits and services.
