Mission Statement
Located in San Francisco's Mission District, The Women's Building is a women-led community space that advocates self-determination, gender equality and social justice. We are well-known for our world-famous MaestraPeace Mural: 5-stories high covering 2 sides of our building, depicting the strength and influence of real-life, iconic, and mythical women.
About This Cause
Every year we welcome over 25,000 women and their families, and connect them with social services, community-involvement opportunities, and arts, wellness and educational events. Every day at The Women's Building: - Women can take care of themselves and their families by using our social services. - The well-being of women and girls is improved by our social justice advocacy. - Community Groups, including our In-House Organizations, strengthen their community work by interacting and partnering with us and each other in a vibrant, socially progressive and affordable space. We continue to focus on women and girls, because, even here in San Francisco, women and girls still face gender-specific barriers and hardships. We are committed to our vision because strong women and girls are critical for strong families and communities.
