Mission Statement
Founded in 1972, Montessori School of Los Altos offers all of our students meaningful and developmentally appropriate learning experiences to guide each of them in their social, creative, and academic growth, to fulfill their potential in our beautiful and supportive school.
About This Cause
Our innovative preschool offers a 3-year Montessori Primary curriculum that explores many key areas of learning through small group and individual lessons including: Language Arts • Art • Computer • Dance • Food Preparation • Gardening • Geography & Cultures • Mandarin • Math • Movement • Outdoor Play • Music • Practical Life • Science • Sensorial • Spanish • Yoga Our highly regarded preschool and Kindergarten programs are based on over 40 years of experience working with young children and their families. The Kindergarten leadership program prepares our students to excel in the best schools; building strong academic skills, a cooperative approach to working with their teachers and peers and a love of learning. The curriculum at Montessori School of Los Altos is founded on the classic Montessori principles with age and developmentally appropriate academic, social and creative activities to fulfill each child's potential in a beautiful and supportive environment. We follow the international Montessori curriculum established by Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). In addition, we incorporate computer work into the classrooms where we feature Montessori software, compatible with the overall educational goals of our program, which is oriented to the needs of children in the 21st Century. Your child's development is rounded out with lessons in art appreciation and hands on projects in many media; movement and dance, rhythm, song and an introduction to musical instruments as well as the chance to participate in many cultural activities and celebrations reflecting our diverse parent community. Mandarin and Spanish language programs are taught daily, by our teachers who are native speakers. An introduction to a second or third language at a young age gives your child a strong foundation on which to build additional language skills. Your child will thrive in our program, and will graduate well prepared for their next level of education.
