About This Cause
Since 1970, La Raza Community Resource Center's mission is to serve as a bridge between San Francisco and Spanish speaking immigrant families with direct support and advocacy to ensure Latino and Indigenous immigrant communities can access resources, realize their power, and thrive. The majority of La Raza participants are Spanish-speaking families and individuals of all ages, living in the Mission District of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. But we serve a diverse body of individuals from the vast and various ethnic groups in the community. The agency provides city wide services, and is located in Centro Del Pueblo, a joint ownership of exclusively nonprofit tenants. La Raza Community Resource Center provides immigrant families in-need with free, culturally sensitive, wrap-around support services. We‘re committed to providing a safe, culturally competent environment where individuals can access comprehensive support services under one roof, ensuring that each client is able to receive the full spectrum of personalized assistance needed to create viable pathways to safety & stability. Our three pillars of service are designed to create language-friendly pathways for families to access resources, realize their power, and thrive. 1) Basic Needs: Our Basic Needs team serves over 600 families per week, providing essentials such as food, diapers, hygiene kits, as well as emergency subsidies & rental support. 2) Family Resources: Our Family Resource Center provides personalized case management, workshops, support groups, and classes for newcomer parents to access the information & resources they need. 3) Legal Support: Our Immigration Legal Team provides free legal assistance with naturalization, asylum & removal defense for over 100 families a year, DACA status renewals, employment authorizations, family petitions, & nearly 500 consultations per year.
