Mission Statement
The Santa Cruz Symphony's mission is to inspire, engage, and educate through artistic excellence, distinctive musical performances, and varied activities that celebrate and enhance the cultural vibrancy of our community.
About This Cause
On March 16, 2020 we established the Santa Cruz Symphony Musician Relief Fund of which 100% of donated proceeds go to support our musicians during the COVID-19 shutdown. Because orchestral concerts involve so many musicians and audiences, these concerts were among the first events to be canceled and will likely be among the last to return once we are past the coronavirus and allowed to return "back to normal." For many of our musicians, performing live in concerts is their sole livelihood. This fund will continue to be active throughout our shutdown. Once the quarantine is lifted, we will be back. You can help ensure our survival by making donations to the Association or our Endowment. Thank you in advance for supporting the Santa Cruz Symphony! The Santa Cruz County Symphony was founded in 1958, and since those early beginnings, the organization has grown to become one of the finest orchestras of its size in California, earning frequent critical acclaim. The orchestra musicians are among the finest in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Symphony showcases world-renowned soloists at its concerts. The Santa Cruz County Symphony performs ten classical concerts in its regular season from October to May at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium and the Henry J. Mello Center for the Performing Arts in Watsonville. The Symphony also performs special benefit concerts, free School Concerts for over 4000 4th and 5th graders and a reduced-admission Family Concert. Additionally the Symphony demonstrates its commitment to education each year with its heralded Classical Music Classrooms, which reaches over 4,500 elementary students throughout Santa Cruz County each year.
