Mission Statement
The mission of API Legal Outreach is to provide holistic, culturally competent, and linguistically appropriate direct legal services to under-served communities in the San Francisco Bay area.
About This Cause
Established in 1975, API Legal Outreach provides legal representation and advice, training and technical support, and community education and outreach in areas including immigration, human trafficking, domestic violence and violence against women, family law, elder abuse, public benefits, disability law, housing, and youth violence prevention. API Legal Outreach provides legal services through representation, free monthly legal clinics, and a legal hotline that is staffed daily by an attorney. The agency also works with many law clerks, volunteer attorneys, pro bono attorneys, and non-legal volunteers to provide legal services, raise funds through events, and conduct outreach. Through these comprehensive services, API Legal Outreach strives to promote the development, empowerment, and self-reliance of the communities it serves. Current special projects include: hate crimes clinics and education, ethnic small business support, unemployment application assistance, and other public benefits available as a result of COVID-19.
