AMADOR COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL

SUTTER CREEK, California, 95685-0206 United States

Mission Statement

Established in 1982, Amador Arts Council is the designated Local Partner to the state of California and the California Arts Council, a state agency. As such we act as the local distributor or state and federal arts funds with a focus on advancing rural creative freedom for all people living in and visiting Amador County. Our programs are sharply focused on providing arts education and exposure to 100% of the public school kids and their extended families. We invest over $120,000 a year in arts education programs for local youth aged 0 to 26.

About This Cause

History: The Amador County Arts Council (aka AmadorArts) was created in 1978, with a cultural plan leading to official non-profit status in 1982. The new agency started applying for and receiving SLPP grant funding in 1982 and continued doing so until 2002 when the state budget crisis dried up CAC funding for local arts councils. However, thanks to the hard work of a dedicated Board of Directors and community supporters, AmadorArts has persevered through difficult times and has once again grown into a successful and dynamic local arts council. Today, we provide over $120,000 a year in arts education and exposure for kids aged 0 to 26 throughout Amador County. Amador Arts Council is a non-profit community arts organization dedicated to enriching life in our community. We believe that the Arts are a resource that contributes to our economy and to our quality of life.
