Canal Alliance exists to break the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by lifting barriers to their success. We believe everyone has the right to achieve their dreams. Every day, we educate, empower, support, and partner with motivated immigrants and their families to best meet all their unique needs—from putting food on the table, to becoming U.S. citizens, to learning English, to graduating from college. Because when we support immigrants, Marin becomes a place where everyone can live, learn, work, and succeed. Each year, we partner with over 40 agencies and engage hundreds volunteers to serve 4,000 youth, adults and families. Canal Alliance has been the leading direct service provider and community advocate for the immigrant community in Marin County for 40 years. We exist to help Latino immigrants and their families break the generational cycle of poverty by lifting barriers to their success. Canal Alliance delivers direct services and advocates for policy changes that not only mitigate the symptoms of poverty but also address the underlying causes of poverty for individuals and families. Our primary strategy is to help clients access education, workforce and immigration legal services, which have the greatest impacts on improving economic outcomes for immigrants. Because immigrants face many obstacles and barriers to accessing services, we also offer comprehensive, wraparound social services including case management, a weekly food pantry and referrals to our free behavioral health services. Our goal is to remove the obstacles immigrants confront in attempting to access education, earn a living wage, and improve their financial security.
