Mission Statement
Founded in 1981, Visalia Rescue Mission has been serving the needs of the homeless, hungry, hurting and other marginalized members in our community with food, shelter, housing assistance, employment assistance, counseling, and care.
About This Cause
We believe God calls us to care for the poor, homeless, abused, and addicted and doing so brings hope to our community. We’re grateful for a generous community that links arms with us in reaching those in need and breaking addiction cycles, in order to restore lives and families. Since 1981, Visalia Rescue Mission is a faith-based, non-profit organization providing hope and restoration to individuals suffering from homelessness, addiction, and other situations prohibiting independence and self-sufficiency, such as the career limitations caused by a criminal record. We achieve this by providing programs, services and resources to help individuals become stable, thriving members of society. • We serve meals every day in our Community Kitchen. In 2020 we served 90,866 meals to those who needed it, and in 2021 we served 93,684 meals. • We operate overnight homeless shelters for men and women (and children). In 2021 we housed 470 shelter guests (189 men, 213 women, and 68 children). • We provide case management counseling services. In 2021 we provided counseling to 868 people. • We provide employment placement assistance. In 2021 we helped 403 individuals transition from unemployment to a job where they can thrive. • We provide housing placement assistance. In 2021 we helped transition 66 individuals from homelessness to a healthy housing situation. • We provide a 12-month residential recovery program for those who want to recover from addiction - Life Change Academy. In 2021 we had 44 involved. All services and programs are available and free to all individuals, and we are funded entirely by grants and donations from local organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals.
