Mission Statement

The Philippine Medical Society of Northern California is strongly committed to assist the indigent communities who have little or no access to medical care. In keeping with this commitment, the Society has been conducting community outreach programs and medical missions to selected rural areas in the Philippines since 1986. It relies mostly on volunteer hours and donations from private individuals, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. Our primary objective is to build strong professional relationships between Filipino medical practitioners and we also support inter society relations. As part of our values, we are committed to providing medical care to the indigent communities both locally and abroad. We encourage Filipino students to pursue careers in the medical field and immerse current members in activities that support further growth and advancement in their careers.

About This Cause

The Philippine Medical Society of Northern California is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization run by volunteer Filipino medical practitioners from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Founded in 1972, it started as a social organization to encourage fellowship and philanthropy amongst Filipino physicians. The organization is composed of four "regions"--San Francisco/San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda/Contra Costa, and Napa/Solano/Monterey. There are twenty officers that are elected annually including a president that is chosen from a different region every year. There are monthly educational dinner meetings, followed shortly by general membership and board business meetings. There are seven standing committees: executive, membership, by laws, continuing education, scholarship, medical missions, and inter-society relations.
