Mission Statement

Honor Children and Youth. Champion Play.

About This Cause

The work of the Children’s Museum of Tacoma has evolved and grown over the last decade. We are an education and advocacy organization that has become more than a museum. We changed our name in the fall of 2019 to reflect this organizational growth, and are now called Greentrike, the nonprofit organization that supports existing programming and advocacy for children and youth in Pierce County, Washington. The Children's Museum of JBLM opened its doors on April 24, 2021 in partnership with Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), as the first-ever children’s museum on a military installation. Greentrike continues to honor children and youth and champion play with the same staff, mission, and board. Donations to Greentrike support outreach programming, multiple preschool locations, virtual programming, and two museums. Our Programs - Children’s Museum of Tacoma and at JBLM: Dynamic, play-based facilities serving over 140,000 people each year with Pay As You Will admission. - Play To Learn Pierce County: A free kindergarten-readiness program where children and adults play TOGETHER. Now offered virtually and in person. - Greentrike Cares: A program partnering with Mary Bridge Hospital that offers children, staff, and families easy accessibility to thoughtfully prepared, play-based activity kits while receiving treatment. Expanded in 2020 as a response to the pandemic kits are also offered to children across Pierce County.
