Mission Statement
The mission of SFHDC is to foster financial opportunity and stability through the development of affordable housing, the facilitation of homeownership and the economic empowerment and revitalization of the Fillmore, Bayview and other neighborhoods of San Francisco.
About This Cause
HOUSING DEVELOPMENT Helping San Franciscans stay San Franciscans via affordable housing development and preservation. We empower residents to transform their neighborhoods into thriving and self-sustaining communities. RESIDENT SERVICES Connecting residents with each other and their neighborhoods through extensive community engagement and culturally competent comprehensive supportive services that empower them to overcome any barriers affecting their ability to remain stably housed. FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT Providing renters, aspiring homebuyers, and existing homeowners with the skills, knowledge, and information they need to obtain, stabilize and maintain affordable housing. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Taking a grassroots approach to community revitalization for San Francisco’s historically Black neighborhoods. We provide formal workshops and individual technical assistance to Black entrepreneurs looking to start or expand their small business. We launched and operate a retail store, www.intheblackshop.com, at the corner of Fillmore and Geary in San Francisco.
