Mission Statement

The Good Samaritan Family Resource Center’s mission is to help vulnerable families, including immigrant families, access needed services, develop self-sufficiency, and participate fully as members of the San Francisco community. Every day, we help striving immigrants and diverse families obtain the skills, support, and resources they need to overcome the challenges of poverty and displacement so, together, we can improve the world we share.

About This Cause

Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (“Good Samaritan”) was established in 1894 in San Francisco as a Settlement House for immigrants. Today, we focus on enhancing positive childhood outcomes in under-resourced neighborhoods, including the Mission and Bayview. With a focus on engaging parents as their child's first and most important teachers, Good Samaritan specializes in offering parents and children varied, bilingual, long-term supports. Our Spanish-English accredited preschool, after-school programs, summer camps, and family services make our organization a trusted partner to over 3,500 people a year, the majority of whom are striving Latino immigrants. In recent years, our programming has expanded to neighborhoods and schools with a large population of African American and Asian/Pacific Islander families as well.
