About This Cause

Some YWAM San Francisco projects include:

Restoration Initiatives
Restoration Initiatives is a project of YWAM San Francisco dedicated to investing in the community of the Tenderloin neighborhood. We aim to empower society’s most marginalized and overlooked members, looking towards long-term solutions to the issues of homelessness, isolation, addiction, and poverty. We provide showers, haircuts, access to bathrooms, mail services, art therapy and more. Volunteers are needed to help with showers, haircuts and to help work in the drop in center. For more information visit

Food Pantry
YWAM San Francisco in partnership with the SF Food Bank runs a food pantry every Thursday from 130pm to 4pm providing groceries for 275 families in in the Tenderloin. We need volunteers to help serve.

Because Justice Matters
Because Justice Matters [BJM] is building brighter futures for women and girls in urban communities. BJM seeks to show love and speak value to these women by providing spiritual support, emotional safety, and practical assistance. BJM also offers internships, conducts prayer walks on human trafficking and has opportunities for volunteer service.

North Beach Connect
San Francisco is known for the affluence and forward-thinking mindset of its residents, yet many find themselves in urban isolation. North Beach Connect is a project of YWAM San Francisco based in North Beach, San Francisco’s Little Italy, that seeks to create a thriving, and connected community.

Bayview-Hunters Point
Bayview-Hunters Point has experienced changing demographics in recent years. A large Asian and Latino community is quickly replacing the still dominant African-American Community. The neighborhood is multi-racial with a high population of at-risk youth. YWAM has worked with the youth in this neighborhood in previous years and is rebuilding this project in a new way — one that fits in this changing neighborhood.

OMED (Fremont)
Providing community development and cultural integration for immigrants and refugees in Fremont.

YWAM Ember Ink (San Jose)
Located in a low income downtown neighborhood of San Jose YWAM Ember Ink is working in partnership for community development amongst families and children. For more information visit
