About This Cause

The Gay Buddhist Fellowship supports Buddhist practice and the spiritual concerns of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies in the San Francisco Bay Area, the United States and throughout the World. GBF’s mission includes offering the wisdom and compassion of diverse Buddhist traditions, and cultivating a social environment that is inclusive and caring. We offer a weekly sitting every Sunday morning consisting of a 30-minute meditation followed by a dharma talk by an invited speaker or small group discussion among the participants. There is no cost to participate. During the pandemic, sessions have moved to Zoom but will resume in a meditation hall in San Francisco's Mission District, when in-person gatherings are again safe and permitted. Additionally, we publish a quarterly newsletter, the bulk of which is mailed to people who have been incarcerated. Our website www.gaybuddhist.org contains a library of over 600 recorded dharma talks and past issues of our newsletter.
