Statement of Organization's Purpose The Mt. Eden High Instrumental Music Program exists to service the young instrumental musicians in our community. We instill in our members the belief that everyone can succeed in life through dedication, persistence, and hard work towards their goals. We motivate all members to hold themselves to highest standards and expectations, which are accessible and achievable to each student in the program. Furthermore, we teach our members to use teamwork in order to build camaraderie and produce a safe and nurturing environment for our students to learn. As such, excellence and mastery in any subject fosters self-esteem and self-confidence that transfers into life skills and ultimately produces a strong, caring, healthy, productive human being in society. Hence, our purpose is to help produce the leaders of tomorrow.
About This Cause
Program Description The Mt. Eden High Instrumental Music Program is composed of 14 performing ensembles, a student leadership committee, and our parent booster group Dreamscapearts. This structure allows the students to engage in an eclectic musical experience from modern to classical styles and genres, as well as pursue leadership positions in the organization. Currently, the ensembles are Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, Chamber Ensemble, String Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Full Orchestra, Drumline, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Marching Band, Colorguard, and Pep Band. Leadership roles include a position in band council such as Drum Major, Assistant Drum Major, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Representatives, Assistant Director, Historian, Librarian, and Instrumental section leaders. Students are encouraged to participate in several, if not all, ensembles, as a further investment in the program will continue to motivate musical growth in young musicians' education.
