Mission Statement

The Institute for Democratic Education and Culture - SpeakOut is a mission-driven speakers agency and education institute that supports institutions in their efforts to become equitable and anti-racist.

About This Cause

The Institute for Democratic Education and Culture - SpeakOut supports colleges and universities, K-12 public and independent schools, community organizations, government agencies, and the private sector in their efforts to become equitable and anti-racist. Our network of speakers, artists, and strategic partners provide experiential learning opportunities through lectures, trainings and workshops, film screenings, performances, and curriculum development. Currently we offer an e-course for students on Race, Power, and Privilege. From nationally-renowned speakers like Angela Davis, Noam Chomsky, Winona LaDuke, Tim Wise, and Dolores Huerta to grassroots community activists on the front lines of the struggles for racial, gender, LGBTQ, and economic equality - SpeakOut reaches into campuses, communities, and companies across the country to provide voices that are changing lives. We are currently raising funds to expand the reach of our speakers and artists, bringing them to under-resourced groups nationwide, to lift up the cause of racial justice and amplify the need for all people to engage as we build a more equitable society.
