Mission Statement

The mission of the Redwood City Library Foundation is to support the Redwood City Public Library in cultivating literacy, life-long learning, and community connections. We envision a community where everyone has access to information, knowledge, and technology.

About This Cause

The Redwood City Public Library is a five-star library and the highest ranked library in the nation for outreach to our community (Redwood City, California). The rating is based on elements including number of items borrowed, number of library visits, number of programs and attendance, public computer use and open hours. The Redwood City Library Foundation has recently raised funds to support Project Read, the entire collection for a new branch library, iPads and laptops in a branch library in a low income neighborhood and to build an early childhood learning center in the main library. Current Programs and Initiatives: Bridging the Digital Divide -- Funds new computers for the Downtown Library Teen Center and supports data and annual software licenses for laptops and hotspot devices. Career Online High School in the Library -- Allows adult learners to earn a High School Diploma & Career Certificate. Interpretive Center Upgrades at Redwood Shores Library -- Funds improvements to the center and allows children to learn about wetlands and the wonders of the San Francisco Bay. Writing Cats & Dogs -- A 6-week creative writing and art program for children 8 to 12 that builds awareness about homeless animals while teaching writing and storytelling.
