Mission Statement
The James Lick Middle School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) provides critical funding for many programs at James Lick, including school site support for teachers, field trips, and supplemental arts education, all of which ensure each student has access to resources to help them succeed.
About This Cause
James Lick Middle School is a general education public school that serves approximately 600 students in grades six through eight in San Francisco. Our mission is to support and nurture our students, encouraging them to challenge and overcome institutional limitations, realize their own potential, and meet high expectations. Our students will be informed, active participants and conscientious leaders within their local and global communities. One of our greatest assets is our diverse student population (70% Latino, 7% African-American, and 12% Caucasian). Our school serves many English Language Learners (32%) and low-income students (75% free or reduced lunch participants). Approximately 45% of our students are in the Spanish language immersion program. Our mission is to support and nurture our students, encouraging them to challenge and overcome institutional limitations, realize their own potential, and meet high expectations. Our students will be informed, active participants and conscientious leaders within their local and global communities. The James Lick PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) provides critical funding for many programs at James Lick, including school site support for teachers, field trips, and supplemental arts education, all of which ensure each student has access to resources to help them succeed. James Lick is one of the only public middle schools in San Francisco enrolling all students in the Visual and Performing Arts Program, which is made possible by an extended school day. Participation in arts programs has had tremendous impact on our school, providing students with opportunities for creative expression and arts learning, leadership development, and peer-to-peer learning.
