Mission Statement

The mission of Lighthouse Community Public Schools is to prepare each child for college and the career of their choice. We believe that an exceptional education brings out each child’s unique light and potential, but inequity in our public schools severely limits the potential of our children, their families and the future of Oakland. We are an innovative model for public education that puts each child at the center of their own learning. The Lighthouse community is equal parts love and rigor where children discover their unique light within. Lighthouse Community Public Schools is a beacon for public education and each graduate fulfills the promise of a better, brighter Oakland.

About This Cause

Lighthouse Community Public Schools (LCPS) is a family of K-12 free public charter schools in East Oakland, CA. Founded in 2002, LCPS serves historically underserved students for grades K-12, many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college.
