Mission Statement
Global Witness exposes the corrupt exploitation of natural resources and international trade systems, to drive campaigns that end impunity, resource-linked conflict, and human rights and environmental abuses. Global Witness achieves real change by challenging established thinking on seemingly intractable global issues. Global Witness seeks to break the links between natural resources and conflict and change corporate and government practices, where these have resulted in an unregulated rush for resources, often with a devastating impact on environments, populations and national and regional stability. Investigations are carried out in countries devastated by conflict, corruption, human rights abuses, and unsustainable and illegal practices, and findings are used to call for lasting change.
About This Cause
For many years now Global Witness has taken risks where others have feared to tread, uncovering hard-to-access information and publishing hard-hitting reports which have helped shape policy and public debate. In the constantly changing political landscape, Global Witness continues to develop hard-hitting investigations, innovative campaigns for change and progress in protecting human rights and the environment.
