RAIN CITY ROCK CAMP FOR GIRLS

SEATTLE, Washington, 98102-3203 United States

Mission Statement

Rain City Rock Camp empowers girls, women, and gender non-conforming individuals to engage their creative potential through music, champion equity, and thrive in a community of allies and activists.

About This Cause

At RCRC, we strive to create a community where participants use their creative energies to comment upon the social fabric of their surroundings, in discontent and in celebration. Participants write, rehearse and perform original songs with the support of coaches. Workshops build self-esteem and encourage leadership. Youth examine music history through a social justice lens, discuss media impact on self-image, learn to set boundaries, explore basic self-defense tactics, and address other topics that support their holistic development. Our programs are designed to build individual competencies and interpersonal skills, celebrate and amplify voices, encourage ideas and innovation, raise awareness, and spark activism in a wide range of social justice issues. We encourage self-discovery through hands-on experience and risk-taking and leadership through collaboration, empowerment, self-expression and mutual respect.
