Mission Statement
Camping Unlimited is a non-profit charitable organization that provides out-of-home respite to parents and caregivers of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our single-day and overnight programs provide relief from the daily demands of care and supervision, while fostering independence, nurturing responsibility, developing competence and building lifelong friendships. We provide a warm and supportive atmosphere of planned permissiveness that encourages community, recreation, education, fun and adventure.
About This Cause
Camping Unlimited has offered a program of day and weekend outings to places of interest in the Bay Area and beyond. In addition, at our camp, Camp Krem, in the redwoods of Boulder Creek, CA and Camp Krem Yosemite in Ahwahnee, CA, we provide sessions of summer camp from June through August. We offer a full range of camping activities including, hiking, swimming, music and active outdoor adventures for children and adults with developmental disabilities. A second goal of our program is to recruit and train young counselors and volunteers of all ages to work as counselors for our day trips and for our summer camp sessions. Camping Unlimited has been very successful in introducing our volunteers and counselors to the joy of helping others. Many of our young counselors have gone on to choose careers in 'the helping fields' - special education, counseling, or in speech therapy, recreation therapy occupational therapy, medicine or social work.
