Mission Statement
Founded in 1908, YWCA San Diego County empowers individuals and families to break the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness, and achieve self-sufficiency. Building upon a historic legacy, YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and advocating for peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people.
About This Cause
YWCA San Diego County provides crisis interventions, safe housing and shelter, and integrated services to all genders of adult and child survivors who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Through a full spectrum of solutions, we ensure survivors have access to the critical support that they need to overcome barriers, improve economic and housing stability, and establish a path for lasting independence. Every year, YWCA helps more than 5,500 people gain protection, access vital resources, heal from trauma, and rebuild their lives. Crisis Interventions: Immediate protection, counseling, and safety planning for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence through our 24-hour crisis hotline and emergency shelter. Housing & Shelter Programs: Safe and stable housing along with homeless prevention services for adult and child survivors through short-term, transitional, and permanent housing solutions with temporary financial and rental assistance. Advocacy & Support Services: Integrated services for survivors to support individuals and families with legal assistance, mental health counseling, case management, employment support, transportation, childcare, and other critical needs. If you or someone you know needs help, call our 24-hour domestic violence hotline at 619.234.3164.
