Mission Statement
First Christian Church of North Hollywood’s mission is to follow Jesus’s example and embody God’s profound love by cultivating these values in our church and beyond: Belonging - To reject others is to deny Jesus. Here, you belong first—without qualifiers. You’re met where you are in your journey, celebrated for finding your way in, and nurtured in your discipleship. Empowerment - We encourage you to live out your faith between Sundays. Build fellowship, lean into spiritual growth edges, and leave every service energized to affect the world the way Jesus did. Service - From youth in need to our neighbors in distress to marginalized communities around the world, we see God in each person and accept the charge to do “even greater things” than Jesus (John 14:12) by witness, example, and action in our ministries.
About This Cause
Welcome, God's beloved to a community of grace celebrating not who we are, but Whose we are. A group of good humans seeking to become love in a broken world. A congregation driven by curiosity about what God is doing all around us and our desire to serve as active participants in this shared work. A safe and affirming space for deep faith exploration, wrestling, and discovery, where no question is off-limits. Welcome to a church home for the rest of us. Perhaps you didn’t grow up spiritual but yearn to connect with fellow seekers and grow in your faith. Maybe you come from a religious experience that no longer works for you, aligns with your values, or serves your family. No matter the reason, we invite you to join us as we answer the call to “be a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.” You belong (yes, you!) If you’re looking for a statement of beliefs to be accepted at our church, you won’t find it. Instead, we offer an open invitation to follow the most radically inclusive person ever to walk the earth—Jesus. We're a faith family of believers without the expectation of shared beliefs; a church that can hold all of us without being beholden to “one right way” of being a Christian. Here, we honor God’s good creation by welcoming people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic statuses to worship and fully participate in every aspect of church life. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) highly values education, because it helps combat extremism, xenophobia, homophobia, and any form of “othering” that seeks to divide and destroy.
