SU CASA - ENDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

LONG BEACH, California, 90804 United States

Mission Statement

For over 40 years, Su Casa Ending Domestic Violence has worked to empower individuals and families to live free from domestic abuse and to build partnerships with communities to end domestic violence. Our programs are designed to help any survivor find her/his next right step towards a safer future. We run a 24-hour hotline, an Emergency Shelter, a Transitional Shelter, and an Outreach Program for all survivors of domestic violence without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, or socio-economic status. There are no fees for our services and our goal is to help break the inter-generational cycle of abuse in the hopes of building a community of peace.

About This Cause

Su Casa programs are geared towards empowering survivors to find their next right step towards a safer future. We use the Trauma-Informed Services model meaning our programs are focused on helping the individual survivor heal and move forward. Our programs are: 24-Hour Hotline - (562) 402-4888 - Any person can call and request referrals for any social service. In addition, crisis intervention services are provided for those who are having domestic violence issues including referrals, intakes for shelter/counseling, and safety planning. Emergency Shelter - 30 day shelter for adult victims/survivors and her/his children (if she/he has any children). Clients have their own private bedroom and bathroom. Clients share the kitchens, living and dining rooms, and the playground/courtyard. Services include: individual counseling, support & educational groups, safety planning, and parenting classes. Transitional Shelter - Longer-term shelter (length of stay varies per client, maximum 12 months) for adult victims/survivors and her/his children (if she/he has any children) who have first completed a stay in any domestic violence emergency shelter. Clients typically live in their own private 2-bedroom apartment which is fully furnished. Services include: individual counseling, support & educational groups, safety planning, parenting classes, household establishment, and budgeting. Although no fees are required (other than a safety deposit for the apartment), clients are required to have a monthly income whether from employment, CalWORKs, alimony, or child support payments. Clients are required to save 50% of their monthly income, which will be given to them upon exiting the program. This is a big part of the self-sufficiency program. Outreach Program - Individual counseling is provided for adult victims/survivors by appointment only. In addition, educational presentations on domestic violence, teen dating violence, child abuse, safety planning, and healthy relationships are available by request. Presentations are provided at your facility for your staff, students, groups, congregation, etc. Walk-In Center - Any person can come to our Business Center during standard work hours (M-F, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) to receive referrals for any social service, safety planning, and to apply for the California Safe At Home (confidential address) program. All services can be accessed by calling our 24-Hour Hotline at (562) 402-4888.
