About This Cause

NDVets provides housing and comprehensive support services that empower Los Angeles-area homeless veterans, and their families, to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Founded in 1992 by two Vietnam War veterans who saw the need to provide integrated assistance for homeless veterans in Los Angeles County, California – NDVets began as a simple operation working with eight veterans out of one five-bedroom home. Today, NDVets operates from a 60,000 square-foot facility co-located and integrated into the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System campus, serving over 600 veterans and their family members each year. NDVets address the complex needs of our clients through an integrated array of supportive services, which include the following: a)Veteran Opportunity Center (VOC), a 161-bed transitional housing facility dedicated to homeless male veterans; b) Oasis Women’s Program, an 18-bed transitional housing facility for homeless female veterans; c) Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) program, which includes thirteen (14) PSH communities, collectively providing over 600 PSH-units for veterans and their families. All occupants receive supportive housing services; d) Oasis for Veteran Women (Oasis) - a program that supports female-only veterans in PSH by providing supportive services; e) Behavioral Healthcare, to which all veterans have access. Services include substance use disorder treatment, mental health therapy, Military Sexual Trauma services, Neurofeedback clinic, and psychiatry; f) Case Management provided to all veterans, who are assigned a case manager, to help navigate service delivery and provide follow-up care; g) Linkages to Services for veterans requiring services than are not provided directly by NDVets.
