Mission Statement

The mission of Go For Broke National Education Center is to educate and inspire character and equality through the virtue and valor of the World War II American veterans of Japanese ancestry.

About This Cause

Since 1989, Go For Broke National Education Center (GFBNEC) has provided dynamic educational programming to audiences across the nation, and shares the remarkable legacy of the Japanese American soldiers of WWII and the relevance of their story to today's issues surrounding civil liberties, social justice and democracy. GFBNEC's programming includes its permanent and traveling exhibitions, public programs, oral history and special collections, historical resources and video series. Through its vital work, GFBNEC aims to inspire current and future generations with the soldiers' Go For Broke spirit and their values of courage, humility, self-sacrifice, integrity, equality and patriotism. Located in downtown Los Angeles' historic Little Tokyo, GFBNEC welcomes visitors to its permanent, "Defining Courage" exhibition, and to the Go For Broke Monument, a striking dedication to honor the more than 33,000 Japanese American men and women who bravely served during WWII.
