Mission Statement
L.A. Works’ mission is to (1) Increase volunteer participation in the community; (2)Build the capacity of nonprofit organizations to achieve their missions through access to volunteer labor and other resources; and (3) Educate and encourage people to engage in the broader social issues affecting the greater Los Angeles Community.
About This Cause
L.A. Works, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the largest and longest-running volunteer action center in Los Angeles. Since our founding in 1991, L.A. Works has empowered Angelenos to take action that impacts pressing community issues that disproportionately impact BIPOC community members – homelessness, at-risk youth, food insecurity, inequity in education, environmental injustice, and many more. To serve government, schools, and community-based organizations, L.A. Works recruits, trains, manages, and mobilizes tens of thousands of volunteers each year. With a database of over 50,000 registered and active volunteers, we help to build the capacity of hundreds of organizations, increasing their ability to meet their missions to protect and serve our community’s most vulnerable members.
