Mission Statement
FACT provides evidence-based services to people of all ages living with developmental disabilities or other behavioral health conditions and their families aimed at promoting inclusion and choice, and maximizing quality of life. Outreach, volunteer opportunities and professional training programs are dedicated to fostering community participation and advancing public awareness and acceptance of individual differences.
About This Cause
FACT was founded by a group of parents who were weathering the challenges of raising children with Autism, at a time when support and opportunities for their children were scarce. As their children grew, so did FACT’s programs. Today, approximately 20 years later, FACT services children, adults and families with differing abilities that extend far beyond just Autism. Underlying FACT’s mission has always been the notion that each individual is unique and deserving of a life that allows him or her to be a fully participating, productive member of society. For many, education is the first step in claiming this right. However, a good education often requires individualized attention. Adding teachers to meet this requirement is often cost prohibitive; and historically, our population has been amongst the first to suffer from this shortage. FACT meets these needs by providing Behavioral Intervention Implementers through our School-Based Services Department . At the college level, there is a need for support in navigating the rigors of college and university life. FACT provides Direct Support Staff thru our Generating All Possibilities program (GAP) which is part of our Adult Services Department. FACT's Adult Services Department also has a tailored services program and SLS program designed to support community integration, job attainment, in-home support. To meet the ever increasing needs for high quality, cost effective professional counseling services, healthcare professionals and enhanced public awareness, FACT provides clinical counseling, volunteer opportunities, group therapy and intern volunteer opportunities. Fact also sponsors community events that bring awareness to the greater community. In addition, parents, families and friends of those within our demographic often need a safe place to share information, thoughts and feelings. FACT's parent groups provide a space to share information, ideas and emotions.
