About This Cause
Kingdom Causes Bellflower (KCB) helps people get off the street, provides support services to those at risk of homelessness, creates pathways to sustainable work through social enterprise, and offers ongoing training and education to the community. KCB succeeds by inspiring, training, and mobilizing hundreds of volunteers each year from churches, businesses, city leadership, service clubs, and other non-profit organizations. By balancing direct services, collaborative partnerships, and ongoing community dialogue, KCB maintains a lived philosophy that all of us are better than any of us. KCB strives to see a flourishing community where everyone has a place to live, a place to work, and a place to belong. KCB was founded in 2001 by Bellflower residents who wanted to pursue collaborative solutions to the tangible challenges facing low-income families. Today, KCB has evolved into an experienced direct homeless services provider while remaining intentional about utilizing existing neighborhood resources, facilitating strategic conversations, and seeking solutions that involve a cross-section of community investment. Ongoing key issues of concern include access to affordable housing, job creation, supportive community relationships and neighborhood stability. The enduring vision of KCB is to value people over programs, and relationships over systems in order to maintain a focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of real people. Major programs include: Our Place Housing Solutions (OPHS): A program that provides homeless outreach, case management, housing navigation, rental assistance, transportation to appointments and referrals to partner agencies. Good Soil Industries (GSI): A landscaping social enterprise (non-profit business), with a mission to help hard-to-hire men work their way out of poverty. Margaret’s House: A transitional home that provides short-term housing and case management services for families with minor dependent children. Training and Education: Includes community workshops on topics like mental health and how to help neighbors experiencing homelessness. The primary population served by KCB is the low-income residents of Bellflower, California, though the organization also serves residents from surrounding cities in Los Angeles County. These cities include Artesia, Cerritos, Compton, Downey, Lynwood, Norwalk, and Paramount. While KCB has historically served homeless and hard-to-hire populations, many programs have addressed broader community needs that impact children and families in Service Planning Area (SPA) 7. KCB is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (TAX ID# 95-4849998) and maintains a Platinum status with GuideStar® for commitment to organizational transparency.
