The Adara Group believes that each and every person should have access to quality health, education and other essential services, no matter where they live. Our mission is to bridge the world of business and the world of people living in extreme poverty.
About This Cause
We are an international development organisation delivering quality health and education services to people living in poverty in some of the world’s remotest places. Adara has worked in Nepal and Uganda since 1998. Thanks to our innovative business-for-purpose model, 100% of donations go directly to our project work. At Adara, we strive to strengthen and deliver high quality health care to women, newborns and children at health facilities, in the community and at home. We have worked in partnership with Kiwoko Hospital in Central Uganda for over two decades. The Ugandan Ministry of Health now recognises the hospital as a Centre of Excellence in newborn health. Together, we have developed a model of maternal and newborn care – AdaraNewborn – that aims to reduce maternal and newborn deaths by 50% in 10 facilities over 10 years. Adara also works alongside remote communities to deliver accessible and quality health, education and other essential services. Our comprehensive and holistic model for community development – Adara Remote – has five intersecting focus areas: Education, Youth Development, Child Protection, Health and Resilient Communities. This work reaches three key areas of Nepal: Humla in the Himalaya Mountains, Ghyangfedi and the capital, Kathmandu. We are already seeing governments, NGOs and other schools learning from the successes of AdaraRemote and improving the standard for future educational and health development across Nepal and other low-income settings. Since 1998, we have impacted the lives of more than 600,000 people living in poverty as well as countless others through our influence, networks and knowledge sharing.
