Mission Statement
Our mission is to revitalize and preserve cultural heritage and sacred lands in partnership with indigenous communities and their leadership. Our commitment extends to integrating traditional wisdom into sustainable land stewardship. Through reforestation efforts and support for ancestral practices, we aim to restore and protect the natural environment, as well as indigenous traditions, fostering a harmonious balance for all living beings.
About This Cause
Huya Aniwa is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Indigenous wisdom, the protection of sacred lands, and the regeneration of life in harmony with nature. At the intersection of ancestral knowledge, environmental stewardship, and spiritual renewal, Huya Aniwa exists to ensure that the voices of Indigenous elders are heard, their traditions protected, and their communities empowered to thrive. At its core, Huya Aniwa partners directly with Indigenous leaders and their communities to support cultural preservation and ecological regeneration. This includes land-based initiatives, reforestation efforts, food sovereignty programs, and the revitalization of traditional knowledge systems. The work of Huya Aniwa recognizes that true healing—of people, cultures, and ecosystems—must be rooted in reciprocity, respect, and deep relationship. A central project of the organization is the Huya Aniwa Institute, a living example of regeneration in action. Situated on sacred land in Northwestern Mexico, the Institute is a community-led initiative designed to restore ecological balance while honoring the spiritual and cultural traditions tied to the land. The Institute’s work includes reforesting degraded areas, preserving native species, protecting watershed ecosystems, and supporting sustainable agriculture in partnership with local Indigenous communities. At the same time, it serves as a sacred site for ceremonial gathering, teaching, and the intergenerational transmission of ancestral wisdom. In tandem with these place-based efforts, Huya Aniwa expands its global impact through Aniwa, a platform that connects people worldwide with Indigenous knowledge through events, education, and storytelling. The crown jewel of this work is the Aniwa Gathering, an annual gathering of Indigenous elders from across the globe. Held in the ancient redwoods of Northern California, the Aniwa Gathering is a sacred space where wisdom is shared through ceremony, teachings, music, and community. The impact of the gathering is profound: it not only supports the preservation of Indigenous traditions, but catalyzes deep transformation in all who attend—carrying the ripple of change far beyond the event itself. Together, the Huya Aniwa Foundation, the Institute, and the Aniwa platform form a constellation of efforts rooted in one vision: a world in which Indigenous knowledge is honored, sacred lands are protected, and communities live in balance with the Earth. Through cultural revitalization, ecological action, and spiritual connection, Huya Aniwa is helping to seed a more beautiful and just future for generations to come.
