Mission Statement
Parish Mission Guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit, we seek to be a beacon of hope in the wider community by sharing our unique cultural and spiritual experiences and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to all. As a Church Family, we strive to collectively and individually share the responsibility of continuing the mission of Jesus Christ to heal, reconcile, and serve.
About This Cause
We, a faith-filled and caring community of culturally diverse, predominantly African-American families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church respond to the call for stewardship to build up God’s church and his people. Guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit, we seek to be in the West End of Atlanta a beacon of hope through outreach and spreading the Good News of Jesus to all. Founded in 1903, the parish is one of the oldest in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Our sanctuary dates to the 1920s. Our pastor is Father Victor Galier, who is assisted in spiritual leadership by Deacon Levi Jelks and Deacon Bill Simmons. The St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church community continues to celebrate and foster the tradition of faith and service demonstrated by all the people who have gone before and who have made our church family a strong witness to Christian fellowship and outreach. We have many Outreach Ministries with a strong emphasis on the principles of Catholic social teaching. The principle of “Solidarity” is a primary focus for the Outreach Ministries which will continue to blossom throughout the St. Anthony of Padua parish community. Some of these ministries include the Health Ministry, Feed the Homeless Ministry, and the Committee on Racism, and Social Justice. St. Anthony of Padua's various outreach ministry have long-standing relationships with community organizations such as Covenant House GA, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home Auxiliary, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities Atlanta, Catholic Relief Services, St. Vincent de Paul of GA, and more.
