About This Cause

Our mission: Seeking the Beloved Community through the liberating love of Jesus. Madrona Grace lives out its mission statement in a variety of ways, but we are always working on a few specific goals related to the themes of Hospitality, Spiritual Formation, and Service. Hospitality: We are currently in the process of launching a new initiative called The Madrona Commons in which we will open our building to the local neighborhood during the week to help support groups that are already at work in the community. Spiritual Formation: Our emphasis right now is on sermon-based Small Groups. These groups meet seasonally for two hours in the homes of church members for study, prayer, and fellowship. We believe small groups are the best way to help people grow in their faith. Service: In 2010 we opened a shelter for homeless families in our basement in partnership with Mary’s Place, a faith-based agency downtown. Last summer we put in a shower and stove. This Summer we will be finishing up the construction of a Tiny House (in partnership with the Wood Technology Center at Seattle Central Community College). The Tiny house will be placed in the back of our church property to house an on-site supervisor for the shelter. In addition to these larger goals, we also have ongoing opportunities for service within the church community. See below for ways you can get involved. Regular Ministry Team Opportunities: All are welcome—just show up! (meetings start about 15 min after worship ends—listen for the bell.)
