About This Cause

The St. Paul Park - Parks & Recreation Commission seeks to provide a variety of recreational activities for the community. Some of these activities include the Summer Recreation Program, Movies-in-the-Park, Winterfest, Glow-in-the-Dark Sledding event and more. The Commission also looks at ways to improve the amenities within the park system. Some of these projects are: 1. improving the "Growing Together" community garden where the produce is donated to the local food shelf. The Commission is seeking funds to assist with the re-building of the raised beds and the purchase of a garden shed. 2. Installation of outdoor exercise equipment and repairs to the walking path at Abdella Park. The Commission is seeking funds to assist with the other improvements needed to the tennis and basketball courts. 3. Replacing horseshoe pits with Bean Bag Toss at Heritage Park. Funding needed to purchase the metal for the Bean Bag Toss. 4. The Commission's biggest challenge will be to improve the amenities at Whitbred Park. This park has been designated for children ages 10+. The Commission's dream is to install a skate park, play structures (geared for that age group), basketball court, 6-square court, and a variety of other amenities. Funding needed to make this dream a reality. The St. Paul Park - Parks & Recreation Commission consist of 7 members who volunteer their time and energy to make a difference.
