Mission Statement
Real community is the deepest of loves. It transcends circumstances and even time. We can’t live without it. And yet, it isn’t easy. It can be illusive, complicated and messy because we are human. At New Community Church, we believe Jesus has something to say about community. He was always redefining who is included, from the woman at the well to a tax collector. Jesus invites us into community with each other and with him. At New Community Church, we want to build into people’s lives–offering a place where our souls are nurtured, where our lives intersect, and where our best selves are expressed for the good of the world.
About This Cause
New Community Church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA (ABC), a mainline Christian denomination, in its Central Pacific Coast region. With over 1 million members and 5,000 congregations, ABC is known for being the most diverse Christian denomination and the denomination of Martin Luther King, Jr. ABC’s congregationalist polity means that each local church is a distinct and autonomous congregation, responsible for articulating their own doctrine, style of worship and mission. ABC is not affiliated with the Southern Baptist Church. The American Baptist Church mission statement is: American Baptists are a Christ-centered, biblically grounded, ethnically diverse people called to radical personal discipleship in Christ Jesus.
