Mission Statement

St. Anthony Shelter for Renewal is a night shelter for homeless men in the South Bronx run by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.

About This Cause

St. Anthony Shelter for Renewal is a 30 bed night shelter for homeless men in the South Bronx, run by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. St. Anthony's welcome's its guests in a spirit of friendship and emphasizes the dignity of the men we serve. It is a clean, beautiful, peaceful place where men can stay for up to six months and find themselves again after the difficult and painful struggle of homelessness and experience restoration and encouragement in order to make a fresh start in life. Guests have individual rooms and receive supper and breakfast daily and have access to bathroom and laundry facilities. We have evening programs three nights a week and our guests can participate in different recreational activities that include games, sports, films and music. Staffed by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, St. Anthony Shelter is assisted by a group of young men who serve as full-time, live-in volunteers. St. Anthony's receives no government funding and relies completely on donations to operate. While staying at St. Anthony's, guests are encouraged to take steps and access programs and resources that will help them to meet their physical, psychological, social, work and housing needs.
