About This Cause
Compass is a learner-centered, design thinking education model guiding 6-12th graders along a journey to find the genius within. Our community-engaged, project-based learning is embedded with social-emotional skill-building to ensure students have all the skills they need to succeed in postsecondary education and beyond. Employing creative problem-solving and real-world experiences, kids leave Compass with a portfolio, a post-secondary plan, and a clear path to becoming impactful world citizens. Breaking free from the passive, one-size-fits-all model of education, our student-centered learning model challenges our diverse student body to excel. Over half of our students are on specialized learning plans - one-quarter have documented learning disabilities and one-quarter are gifted and talented with Advanced Learning Plans, and more than one in five qualify for free and reduced lunch.
