About This Cause
City Academy has participated in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2012. This experience offers our students a hands-on experience outside of the traditional classroom. As a team the students build a robot, learn problem solving skills, and communication skills. This all leads up to the students competing in a large cooperative competition that includes 60+ other high school teams. During this competition in the Spring, students get to stay on the U of M campus overnight as a part of building camaraderie with their team. Many students join Robotics without any prior knowledge and become enthusiasts by the end of the school year. This experience exposes students to many new skills, career possibilities, and future possibilities they didn’t know existed prior. This donation would provide enrichment, lodging, andmeals for our students while at the competition. FIRST Robotics is a great opportunity for our students to be curious, embrace challenges, and be presented with opportunities.
