About This Cause
ReachAll is a non-governmental organization in Zambia, with registration number ORS/102/53/258. Its thematic areas are: • Education • Water & Environment • Economic Empowerment • Health The organization was founded in 2011 and registered on 17th January 2013 after realizing the development needs and gaps in the above focus areas. The organization exists to improve learning, development and life outcomes of the disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalized communities: that is because ReachAll: (a) Promotes principles of community collaboration, learning and action for the common good. (b) Builds skills for proficiency, transformation and empowerment (c) Values every voice, idea and suggestions (d) Values all forms of life and the environment The organization draws its strengths from principles of accountability, transparency, participation, learning, sense of belonging, unity in diversity. We target Rights Holders regardless of their race, tribe, religious and political affiliations. Our work is entirely for public benefit and charity based according to our registration mandate. We believe in inclusion and hence we also focus on children and adults with disabilities and special needs. Since the beginning of our computer literacy project in 2014, we have reached about 18 300 children learners in 30 schools which we supported with 20 computers each for learners. The organization trained some teachers in basic computer literacy and also installed Educational Resources on computers to enhance research, reading and learning in schools. Our Literacy programming started three years later in 2017 targeting children in schools and parents and guardians who could not read and write properly and who were economically impoverished. Through this we have trained about 250 teachers in Livingstone and Lusaka Districts of Zambia to improve their teaching skills. We have reached over 1000 learners and sensitized about 2000 parents/ guardians to get more involved and to support their children learners in education. We have trained development actors like ChildFund Zambia, Response Network, Play It Forward (UK), Luangwa Child Development Agency, Chibombo Child Development Agency, Chongwe Child Development Agency, Kafue Child Development Agency, Mumbwa Child Development Agency, Lusaka Child Development Agency, and 40 schools under the Ministry of Education. Children in targeted schools showed marked improvement in academic performance, participation in class, love for reading and learning, improved classroom attendance, social interaction and behavior. The boy child transformed to being respectful, supportive and kind to the girl child due to the social emotional strengths which we enhanced in the learners. The girl child’s confidence and courage improved their participation in classroom and their academic performance. We advocate for rights of children, girls, youths and women, and generally rights holders during our annual advocacy events, various media and press briefings.
